Some witnesses seem to revel in the suffering of others. They have a bible study and they tell EVERYONE in the congregation all their personal confidences ie: how many times divorced, whether they are using drugs, how many kids they have and who the fathers are and if they are on welfare etc. Did you do that? Man, I tried hard not to. I was pioneering for 9 years and it happened now and then when I needed advice on how to handle certain things, you know ...lice in the family I was calling on etc. It really pisses me off when I see a JW and they start dishing the dirt on their "studies". I don't know why they talk about that with me anyway.

Why can pioneers count time working on WT construction but not looking after orphans, widows, the hungry, the thirsty or the homeless?
by yesidid inapart from the scripture about love being the identifying mark of a christian, it seems to me that james 1,27 and matthew 25:34-40 quoted below are the biblical priorities of a christian.. .
although preaching was not included in the three quotes i guess it would be included as christian thing to do.
it has been the thing most stressed by the watchtower hierarchy and certain hours are required to be an elder etc.. does it show something about their priorities that pioneers can count time hour for hour when working on watchtower buildings?

Looking after widows and orphans would set a dangerous precedent. Compassion for actual people might cause the "publisher" to realize that they are carrying out the Watchtower fantasy of compassion, handing out magazines full of "life's water." They just might feel the real satisfaction of helping someone in need.

he said the world defined "spirituality" however it would suit them; according to their own religion.
he gave example definitions of spirituality (being in touch with nature, spiritism, going to church and reading the bible, etc.

by Sour Grapes inlast week i drove by the kh thursday at 6:25 pm which is.
35 minutes before the meeting starts and there were already.

WT Society Has to be Forced by Courts to Reveal Hidden Child Abuses
by flipper inin one of the new pieces of information in the new elders manual - section 5:18 - it shows how elders are instructed to keep all judicial committee information private from media or attorneys.
keeping in mind how secretive the wt society has been in hiding child abuse within the jehovah's witnesses notice these instructions to elders now.. it states, " if a member of the media or an attorney representing the accused ( or possibly victims ) contacts the elders , they should not give him any information about the case or verify there is a jc.
rather, they should give the following explanation, " the spiritual and physical welfare of jehovah's witnesses is of paramount concern to the elders, who have been appointed to " shepherd the flock ".

Once a commitee of elders meets with the accused the privacy of the matter is broached. When they report the facts to Bethel, the privacy is broached. Though they have obeyed the law by reporting the abuse/accuasation, they do not want to be compelled to testify in the case based on privacy. The ruling showed their own rules and regulations void any clergy confidentiality clause.

I have registered to vote for the first time in my life. I wish I'd done it for the last pres. elections but I still had mental shackles. I'm voting and when it comes time to bitch about how things are I can say, "At least I tried to do something. Did you vote? If not, shut the hell up." That in itself will be gratifying.

Have your JW Relatives Explained about Generation/Overlap Change to You ?
by flipper inafter reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .
i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.
so please feel free to post your experiences.

Generation refers to electricity being produced and in the Dictionary of convenient meanings we find that electricity is at the center of all things electrical. That being the case it is reasonable to assume that all new light is related to "generation". With this superior Bible reasoning it is felt that we have the most illumination on the subject of overlapping Generations meaning they all become one unified pulse of electricity in the hand of Jehovah, the God of shock and awe. Accept it, Preach it or die from it. Let's all just accept it an move on.
